Introduction to Brainstorming

This course provides an in-depth exploration of brainstorming as a fundamental tool for creative problem-solving, idea generation, and academic development. It introduces the concept of brainstorming, highlighting its significance in fostering innovation, collaboration, and critical thinking. The course covers key principles that enhance the effectiveness of brainstorming, including the importance of generating a high volume of ideas, deferring judgment, encouraging unconventional thinking, and building upon others’ contributions.

Students will engage with a variety of brainstorming techniques, including Free Writing, Listing, Mind Mapping, Traditional Brainstorming, and the SCAMPER method. Each technique will be examined in terms of its application in academic writing, research proposal development, and problem-solving across various disciplines. Through interactive activities, students will apply these methods to real-world scenarios, such as addressing challenges in remote learning or improving public transport systems.

By the end of the course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of how to utilize brainstorming to enhance their research, writing, and analytical skills. They will reflect on their preferred brainstorming techniques and discuss strategies to integrate them effectively into their academic and professional work.
