Rock Mechanics is a fundamental course in the Master 1 Mining Engineering program that provides the basic principles needed to understand the behavior of rocks under stress. The course focuses on the fundamental physical and mechanical properties of intact rocks, such as strength, elasticity, and failure, as well as an introduction to stresses in the ground. It presents basic concepts related to rock masses and the role of natural discontinuities in controlling rock behavior. The aim of the course is to build a solid theoretical foundation that will support advanced studies in mining engineering, underground excavations, and geotechnical design.
