Introduction to Energy and Environment
Energy is the foundation of modern society — it powers our industries, transports, communication, and daily lives. However, the way we produce and use energy has profound impacts on the environment. From air and water pollution to climate change and resource depletion, the link between energy and the environment is one of the defining challenges of our time.
This course explores the fundamental concepts of energy production, conversion, and consumption, as well as their environmental consequences. Students will learn about traditional energy sources (such as fossil fuels) and renewable alternatives (including solar, wind, hydro, and biomass). We will also examine energy efficiency, sustainable development, and global energy policies aimed at reducing emissions and promoting cleaner technologies.
By the end of the course, students will understand the scientific, technical, and societal dimensions of the energy–environment relationship and will be able to evaluate solutions for achieving a sustainable energy futur
