Aims and Objectives:

  1. To introduce the notion of “Didactics” to learners, and to tell them its domain and role in Language teaching and learning.
  2. To cope with the historical teaching methods, their tenets, and how to be an Eclectic teacher.
  3. To determine the notions’ concepts as Communication Interaction, Communicative Competence, and communication strategies.
  4. To give the opportunity to EFL learners to tackle lessons, to plan skills and sub-skills and how to teach them from observable perspectives.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. 1Introducing the field “Didactics”, its meaning, and its area of study.
  2. Dealing with the different Teaching Methods in EFL Classrooms.
  3. Defining the concepts “Communication- Communicative Competence- Interaction”.
  4. Familiarizing the learners with the different EFL teachers’ roles and how to assess the enrolled learners.
  5. Coping with learning theories and contributions to facilitate learning.
  6. Socializing the EFL learners with both processes of “Teaching/Learning” and showing them with practical, observable situations how to manage classrooms

Semester one

  • • Unit one: focus on the teacher
  • • Unit two: focus on the learner
  • • Unit three: approach and methods in language teaching
  • • Unit Four: Lesson planning and classroom management 

Semester Two

  • • Unit five: Teaching/ learning the receptive skills (Listening and Reading)
  • • Unit Six: Teaching/ learning the receptive skills (Speaking and Writing)
  • • Unit seven: Teaching grammar and vocabulary
  • • Unit Eight: assessment and evaluation


The content of this courses is intended to:

 - Provide an introduction to communication sciences in the broader contexts of the role of communication in science and public perceptions of science and technology.

  - Cultivate practical skills in communication sciences, through hands-on projects.

-  Explore the distinctive nature of communication sciences through journalism, creative writing, radio, TV, and the Internet

-  Explore communication sciences through a series of case studies of science, technology and society issues in the public domain

Achieving the previous goals helps students to have basic knowledge about media and modern technologies.


OBJECTIVES:

  1. To explore the basic concepts needed in teaching ESP including language skills,
  2. needs analysis, lesson planning, and assessment.
  3. They will have a clear idea of how English is taught in different disciplines.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Students should have the background knowledge in teaching English for general purposes.
  2. Knowledge of the different theories of language and language learning
